More than 75% of the herbs in Flor•Essence are certified organic; the remainder are also sustainably grown in order to maximize nutrients and minimize chemical contaminants such as pesticides, insecticides or herbicides. In addition to using organic and non-irradiated ingredients, Flora is a certified organic producer and processor accredited by Quality Assurance International (QAI). This is further assurance that even the cleaning agents (e.g., certified organic alcohol) used on the production equipment are non-toxic.

To ensure the highest quality, Flora grows as many of the herbs as possible at our own certified organic herbal farm. Our goal is to grow and harvest all of the plants ourselves, but until that is possible, we purchase only from contract farmers who follow Flora’s specifications.
Above and beyond
Canada’s Natural Health Products Regulations now require less stringent testing than we had previously practiced as a pharmaceutical-quality facility, but we have kept up our strict quality control and continue to perform equipment and process testing beyond regulatory requirements. In addition, by conducting our own tests as well as having third-party testing done, we go beyond the mandatory steps to guarantee the purity, quality and potency of all of our products, including Flor•Essence.
As natural as can be
Flor·Essence contains only full-spectrum herbs that have been neither refined nor fortified with ‘active pharmaceutical ingredients’. This is as natural and traditional as it gets: naturally grown, unrefined herbs in all their glory, prepared as a tea. The water is filtered with activated charcoal and UV light to retain its naturally occurring minerals. To minimize oxidative damage, the herbs are dried at low temperature, stored cold and cut right before extraction. The raw plants are tested for identity, purity, and potency, as well as to detect contaminants. In addition to common sense examination (does it actually look like a plant? or is it old, dry and dead-looking?), highly sensitive tests are conducted in state-of-the-art laboratories: Thin Layer Chromatography, High Performance Liquid Chromatography, spectrophotometry and other chemical analytical methods.
Did you know?
Citric acid can be produced from microbial fermentation of sugar or as a byproduct of petroleum. The citric acid in Flor•Essence liquid is of the fermented variety. Not a preservative, its function is to act as an antioxidant and to lower the pH enough to prevent certain anaerobic bacteria from producing toxins.
Consistent quality
The quality and potency of Flor•Essence is guaranteed consistent without isolating specific ‘active’ compounds in the plants. We accept only plants that meet our criteria of seed selection, farming and raw material testing. Our manufacturing process is meticulously controlled, and we test the finished product to ensure batch-to-batch consistency. Pre-production and final testing includes verifying that certain marker compounds are present; while we recognize that there are countless substances in any herb that contribute to its activity, it is crucial to perform chemical profiling and to quantify compounds that are commonly thought to be the active ingredients. It is best to take Flor•Essence at least 30 minutes before eating, or at bedtime. Aim to drink two litres of pure, clean water every day, to help flush out the toxins released by the tea. That may sound like a lot, but if you think of it as only four 500 ml bottles, it’s not so much.

Some suggestions for external use:
- Mix with water in a spray bottle. Spritz on irritated skin. Keep refrigerated.

- If you prepare the more economical Dry Herbal Tea Blend at home, use the ‘leftover’ sediment as a poultice or in the bath.
Signs that Flor•Essence® is working
As you begin incorporating the Flor•Essence habit into your day, you may start to notice changes in your body.
You may experience some reactions that might seem like side effects but are really signs that Flor•Essence is efficiently doing its job of releasing stored toxins from tissues, thereby entering them into circulation so that they can be eliminated. If the following symptoms arise, be sure to rest and drink lots of water to assist the clearing of the debris. These temporary reactions are normal if slight to moderate in intensity:

The proud heritage behind the habit
In 1922, Canadian nurse Rene Caisse received the recipe for a unique powerful cleansing tea prepared from eight herbs used for generations by the Ojibwa Natives.
