Penny Visser - Silver Medalist Comrades 2006
1st November 2006
Attention: the Marketing Manager
Last year I was given 6 bottles of Udo’s Oil to try with a view to seeing whether it would prove beneficial to my running.
I had a very good year of running improving on most of my previous years’ times. I do run competitively in my age group (50-59) and put my improved times down to better fitness and the fact that I was training under a personal coach. What I have to bear in mind at all times as my training is quite intensive is to keep my body in peak condition and ensure I avoid injury and infection, more due to my age. The highlight of the year was my running a half-silver medal at Comrades (a feat only a very few women of may age have achieved).
In July my supply of your product had run out but I was not too perturbed as I could not be sure as to whether it had helped me or not. I began to develop joint and kneed pain both during and after running and despite having numerous physio sessions could not get rid of the aches. Wondering if Udo’s Oil could have prevented this happening, I bought a bottle and within 2 to 3 weeks was running pain free.
I continue to enter races and despite being at the upper end of my age category manage to come 1st or 2nd master in most of the races.
I will be turning 60 on 15th December and provided my training and biomechanics hold up I should prove to be the top grand master (over every distance) in Gauteng with my ultimate goal being a gold medal at Comrades 2007 for 1st in my age group.
These are lofty but achievable goals and I am now convinced that I will not get there without taking your product.
Trusting you find this letter informative and thank you for introducing me to your product.
Yours Sincerely,
Penny Visser |

SANDTON CHRONICLE, FEB 07
60 – and going strong
By Ryan Noik
Sandton: Sixty-year-old Penny Visser has given new meaning to the term "golden years".
Recently selected to represent Gauteng at the South African Athletics Championships, Visser scored first place in the Port Elizabeth City Marathon, and bagged a gold medal for her time of 3:36.
"I felt so special in provincial colours, although starting right at the front of the pack was quite nerve-wrecking," she related.
Visser, who is the Run/Walk for Life manager at the Sandown branch, is no stranger to marathons, having completed 21 consecutive Comrades Marathons to date.
One year after starting her running career at Run/Walk for Life in 1985, Visser participated in her first Comrades.
"Every race has its ups and downs, but finishing any race brings with it a sense of achievement," she explained.
Visser elaborated that it was the thought of doing better next year, along with a competitive spirit that drove her.
Nor does she run alone. Her husband is also a runner, and has run alongside her in 18 Comrades Marathons. "He is my biggest encouragement. For one of my training sessions, he drove 21km alongside me, seconding me all the way, " she related.
To date, the highlights of her running life have been completing her 20th Comrades and representing her province.
Visser explained that she had been fortunate in that she never sustained any serious injuries. She attributed this to cutting back when her body demanded less intensity, and having one day’s rest a week.
Visser, who also conducts the Run/Walk for Life morning sessions at Grayston primary school, added that she derived great satisfaction from building runners and walkers up to their first race as well.
"The majority of participants come from the Sandton area, and run in ages from 14 years old upwards. Walking is the easiest way to lose weight, as it increases one’s metabolism," she said.
Visser added that she intended to keep on running. Right now she has her eye on competing in the Master Athletics Race, which takes place every two years in a different country and is only open to athletes over the age of 40.
"This year it is being held in Italy in September, and I am hoping to participate in the marathon at least," she enthused.
"Once I retire, I also want to do the London Marathon and other large races overseas," she concluded. |

UDO'S OIL ON HIGH MOUNTAINS
June 2009
My passion is climbing high mountains, and I try to get away once a year to some remote part of the planet to climb.
I have successfully climbed the highest mountains on 6 of the 7 continents: Kilimanjaro (5,895m; highest in Africa); Carstensz Pyramid (4,884m; highest in Australasia); Elbrus (5,642m; highest in Europe); Aconcagua (6,960m; highest in South America); Vinson (4,897m; highest in Antarctica); and Denali (6,201m; highest in North America).
I have also successfully climbed Mont Blanc (4,807m), in the French Alps; Mt Pissus (6,883m), in the South American Andes; and Cho Oyu (8,201m), in the Himalayas and the 6th highest mountain in the world. I have just returned from an attempt on Mt Everest (8,848m), and achieved a high point of 8,500m.
When I take on these big mountains, I have a few rules I live by. The first of these rules is that I must have top quality mountaineering gear. When I climb in temperatures as low as -30 degrees Celsius, I do not want to worry about frostbite. When I dangle on a rope on a 45 degree angle with a drop-off of 1,500m, I do not want to worry about whether my equipment will fail me. My second rule in climbing is to train very hard for each climb, and to make sure I am in the best possible physical condition when I hit the slopes. My third rule is to ensure I do whatever I can to be healthy - in body and in mind. I take my supplements with me on each climb - once again, I want to have top quality supplements when I climb, and this is where Udo's Oil comes in.
Since August 2008, I have been on 3 expeditions: Cho Oyu (a 6-week expedition), Aconcagua (a 2-week expedition), and Everest (an 8-week expedition). Udo's Oil was a key element of each expedition. Since taking Udo's Oil with me on expeditions, I have experienced a range of very distinctive benefits. First and foremost is high and sustained energy levels - even when climbing at 8,000m for 10+ hours at a time on supplementary oxygen. Secondly, my health has held up better than ever. Early in my climbing career, I would often get flu and colds, which is debilitating at high altitudes. Since using Udo's Oil, I have not once had the flu or a cold on a mountain. Thirdly, my mind has been clear, enabling me to make good decisions. On Mt Everest this year, at 01h00 and at 8,500m, with another 350m to the summit (about 2 to 3 hours of climbing at that altitude) I just knew that it was not my time to summit the mountain. It was bitterly cold, it was pitch dark except for our head lamps, I was on an 8mm rope with a guide and 3 sherpas, and climbing with supplementary oxygen. Most mountaineering deaths occur on the descent from a summit, often because climbers only focus on the summit and use all their physical and mental energy to get to the top but then do not have enough "gas in the tank" to get down safely. On Everest, I knew I had enough in me to get to the summit, but I distinctly started to question whether I have enough mental and physical energy to descend safely. Whilst climbing, I considered my choices and options, and my intuition and judgment led me to a decision that I knew was the right one: I chose to descend and forego the summit, but the trade-off was that I maximised the possibility of getting back to high camp safe and sound. I believe that it was my constant use of Udo's Oil that contributed to my sound judgment on the highest mountain on earth. Perhaps the final benefit I get from Udo's Oil on high mountains is just a subjective "feel-good" factor: there are so many uncontrollable variables on mountains that just feeling good about your health is often an important contributor to success.
I remain a firm believer in Udo's Oil; after Mt Everest I am more convinced than ever of its benefits; and I am a client for life. Udo's Oil will be an integral part of all my future expeditions, including a second attempt on Mt Everest.

"Dear Udo thank you so much for writing your book Fats That Kill Fats That Kill. After reading that book and taking the flax oil remedy first my health is starting to make a big turn around.
I've had chronic fatigue for over l0 years and was constantly exhausted; not living a very full life. Within and week and a half of taking Udo's Oil Blend, my energy level started going up and I started losing weight. My husband who is a diabetic has seen his blood sugar levels go down in just the same amount of time...
Thank you so much for all your hard work. I recently went to one of your lectures and felt it was a great benefit as I learned much more. May God Bless you."

"First time when I read Udo Erasmus's Fats That Heal Fats That Kill was several years ago.Eureka! Every explanation and reasoning made complete sense to me. No hype or sales pitch. It was balanced with scientific and concrete common sense.I used to be on low fat diet as many people did in those days. After reading his book I've been eating good oils. My skin feel less dry and less join creaks. I have no doubt my adopting of his approach made the big difference in my health."
